In 2018, the skincare industry grew 13% more than the makeup, hair, and perfume industries, and more than 50% of people say they want their skincare to be natural. We are big lovers of natural, minimal plastic skincare and there are so many great reasons why to switch to green beauty.

But we get that making that change can be confusing. So we are here to help answer the question; how do you use natural skincare products?

Here, we speak to the Shea Brand founders to learn how they have incorporated natural products into their personal skincare routines:

Marie Arlet, COO

What is your go-to skincare product?

“My must have would be our Electric Daisy Regenerative Day Serum. I use it every single morning before putting on my makeup.”

What is your daily skincare routine?
“In the morning I wash my face, apply serum, and put on sunscreen (which is so important, I can’t say it enough; wearing sunscreen protects from premature aging & scary cancers). At night I like to exfoliate and use our Electric Daisy Enzyme Mask twice a week and always follow up with one of my two favorite facial oils (the Post Beach Serum by Naked Brooklyn or the Hemp CBD Face Oil by Kiskanu).”

Was it easy for you to switch over to natural products?
“I think my biggest struggle with the transition to natural products has been with deodorant. I’ve tried so many different brands and still haven’t found one that works perfectly for me.”

Krystal Vaquerano, CCO

What is your go-to skincare product?
“I absolutely need to use a toner every day. I love our Teafruit Witch Hazel as a toner because it’s really astringent and removes excess oil & dirt from my acne-prone skin. I use it twice a day.”

What is your daily skincare routine?
“I spray my face with Teafruit Witch Hazel and then apply the Electric Daisy Day Serum–I do this once in the morning, and once at night. In the morning I also apply a zinc-based sunscreen.”

Are there any specific skin issues that you deal with?
“I have struggled with acne since I was a teen. As I’ve gotten older I’ve decided to accept my skin, but I do try to take care of it as much as possible! I get facials for heavy duty extractions–they’re not glamorous or relaxing, they are often painful actually–and this helps keep my acne under control. In addition to my daily skincare routine I also take an acne medication with benzoyl peroxide (it’s not natural but it definitely helps), ice my skin when it’s inflamed, and use CBD on pesky pimples.”

Austin Katz, President

What is your go-to skincare product?
“The CBD Multifunctional Balm is my most versatile skincare product. I use it to moisturize, protect, and heal my skin plus to manage pain, soothe my eczema, and for general anxiety.”

What is your daily skincare routine?
“Every morning I rinse my face, pat it dry, and apply the Electric Daisy Day Serum. I use a face oil right before bed. I also like to do the Electric Daisy Brightening Exfoliant once or twice a week. I follow it up with a water cleanser, the Electric Daisy Mask, and our serum.”
